Every year KIRA awards eighteen artists with a one month residency. Artists are provided with individual studio space, comfortable housing, two prepared meals each day, a stipend and live on a historic property in a beautiful seaside town. Artists should bring all supplies and materials needed for their creative process when they arrive, to ensure availability of required supplies and provisions. As part of the residency, artists will be asked to engage with the community for up to six hours a week. These engagements will vary based on skills and interest and can include a partnership with Kingsbrae Garden which is located just steps away from the residence and studios.

Applications are open to a range of disciplines and types of artists including but not limited to the visual arts, music/composition, new media, and interdisciplinary arts. Artists from all levels in their career who exhibit a strong professional work ethic and a collaborative attitude are encouraged to apply.

Artists are expected to engage with the community through weekly open studios (On Saturdays, with a duration of three hours, walk-in basis) and an artist talk and exhibit in the final residency week.

Accommodation
Artists will live on a historic property. They will have their own bedroom and private bathroom. The TV-room, living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry room are shared spaces.

Applications are open to a range of disciplines and types of artists including but not limited to the visual arts, literature, music/composition, new media, and interdisciplinary arts. Artists from all levels in their career who exhibit a strong professional work ethic and a collaborative attitude are encouraged to apply.
Studio / Workspace
Artists will have access to a private 26' x 20' studio.
Fees and support
10 CAD application fee.
Expectations towards the artist
As part of the residency, artists will be asked to engage with the community during weekly Open Studio Saturdays (10 AM - 1 PM, walk-in basis). During these events, weekly progress will be shared with the visiting public.
