halka art project (aka halka sanat projesi) is a not-for-profit art initiative focusing in the production, discourse and presentation of contemporary art. halka art/ residency is located in one of the most beautiful, motivated and sophisticated neighbourhood on the Asian Side of Istanbul, Kadiköy-Moda. We create for artists, writers, curators, film makers, cultural researchers, a hub to both concentrate on work yet to socialize and exchange experiences with the artistic cycles, artists, art students, and local audience thruogh artist talks, workshops and exhibitions regarding the necessities of the proposed project.
Duration of residency
halka offers the selected participants private rooms with working units within them.
Disciplines, work equipment and assistance
We encourage all visual artists, photographers, dancers, musicians, video and performance artists, writers, film makers, cultural researchers and curators who have a project idea to come join us.
Studio / Workspace
We provide co-shared studio spaces both on the first floor and the third floor of the residency. Also, a co-shared kitchen, bathrooms, an exhibiting spaces are open to be used with the residency.
Fees and support
The residency fee at halka is 375€ weekly for single participation and 550€ weekly for artists duos. Since halka is an independent organization initiated and sustained without any public or private support or sponsorship it has to create its own resources to continue its commitment to art, artists and the audience. In return, we provide both physical and intellectual space that the residents need to be productive. We work in every step of your project with you in its development, promotion and networking among the members of the community, fellow art professionals and local and international audience. We provide exhibiting and self-presentation opportunities for our participant residents.
Expectations towards the artist
We expect to see from the artist and share with the audience the end results of the residency in the form of an exhibtion, artist talk or a workshop which we can decide together.
