Magpie Springs Art Center welcomes artists from around the world to explore their artistic expressions in the rural setting of southwest Montana. Resident accommodations include a a 24′ yurt atop an earthship basement with greenhouse. Kitchen and living room space is located in the upstairs yurt, while bedroom and bathroom facilities are in the earthship basement. Running water is available in both the yurt kitchen and basement bathroom. The yurt is heated with a wood stove, while the basement has radiant floor heat. A new 24′ yurt studio was just constructed for residency artists.
Artists are encouraged to have a final showing of their pieces in one of the local communities, and/or arrange workshops to share their skills and techniques with the community.
During the late summer and early fall months, the gardens at Magpie Springs are loaded with raspberries, grapes, peas, kale, cucumbers, chard, beets, and herbs that residents can use.
