Founded in 2018, TESA Creative Center sets out from environmental concern and sustainable ecology, and inspires thoughts upon art, spaces, and the environment. Artist-in-Residence provides artists excellent places for art-making, living, research and exchange. Artists are encouraged to devote their creative pursuits inspired by the seascape, preserves, and the natural surroundings. The main goal is that artists can consistently dedicate to their projects without interruption, and deepen intercultural dialogue among artists. Artists are also encouraged to contribute to the communities with art actions, performances and workshops. TESA Creative Center provides a dynamic time frame for working, and also networks with galleries, museums, and cultural institutions.

The venue of TESA Creative Center Artist-in Residence Program is at the north coast of New Taipei City, Taiwan. Sitting on a hill facing the Baisha Bay, TESA is 30-min drive from historic town Danshui where artists can experience a cultural fusion of western colonial, Japanese, and native Taiwanese architectures and delicacies. On the greeny campus are burbling streams, chirping insects and singing birds. In spring a variety of flowers blossom, and in summer the sunset over the Bay is the daily fest. In autumn the panoramic view of the Qixing Mountain Range is most magnificent, and in winter the chilled drizzles are poetic. Exclusive to the seashore of north coast, Baisha Bay as a white sand beach extends one kilometer along the coast. Within 10-min walk, artists may enjoy swimming, sunbathing and surfing in summer time.

Located at the naturally abundant Baisha Bay, TESA Creative Center consists of spacious places for art-making and detached living quarters. Artists are given the freedom to create their art projects around the untamed landscape. Artworks can be presented indoors or outdoors, so are exhibitions, forums, performances or seminars. A professional stone carving workshop equipped with a forklift, a stacker and an air compressor are available for artists. A ceramic workshop provided with an electric kiln and all kinds of tools are on demand. The saloon, the adjacent kitchen and the wooden deck extending outwards are where artists can hang out. Surrounded by a garden of flowers, trees and everlasting creeks, TESA Creative Center invents the perfect environment to enhance creativity and to focus on projects. In addition to TESA Creative Center, the art space and ceramic workshop in Danshui are also available for artists. Artists can exhibit or work here.

We accept submissions from emerging, mid-career, and established artists and scholars by open calls. All disciplines may apply. We will offer artists quality time to complete their projects, or simply focus on research and development of ideas.
