Induce a reductive premise in your research or art process. Unleash a wilderness in your creativity by living simply on the shores of Lake Superior. Commune with the elements and hone your awareness. Expand into the freedom and purity of expression found in imposing limitations to distill your ideas.

Artists who are adventurous in spirit and experienced in the outdoors will relish in the sublime majesty of this wild place from the comfort of our beachfront Airstream trailer and campsite.

Isolation and unplugging is required by this remote location without cell or internet service on site. Connect to the land and water to infuse your art practice, erode the sediment of everyday routine, and reveal the pearl of your wildest dreams.

Theano Point is a 300 acre peninsula of wild pre-Cambrian mountains, bluffs, alpine forest, interior bush, sandy beach, three cobble beaches, an island, and winding coves of geologically diverse Lake Superior shoreline- set against the backdrop of a dramatic and ever changing coastal climate, on the world’s largest freshwater lake (geographically designated as an inland sea).

Theano Point is adjacent to Lake Superior Provincial Park and is located in Ontario’s Algoma region, a famous subject for The Group of Seven painters.

Artists are invited to respond to self-imposed limitations inspired by the wilderness immersion that residency at Theano Point provides to your art practice.

What making will come from your studio of wave, wind, rock and wood?  What will your research determine without relying on the internet?  How will you feel when surrounded by awe-inspiring natural beauty so much farther than your eyes can see?
