Description of residency program
Artists in an Olivegarden is an independent, not-for-profit, artist run space. It is nestled in a rural area just 15 bicycle minutes away from the City Center of the Unesco town Arles. It offers an idyllic and quiet retreat in an old, charming and recently renovated farmhouse in midst of a beautiful huge garden and a kingdom of birds.

Our self-directed residencies are designed for international professional working artists who are looking to produce new work, to write, and/or conduct arts-research. It will give artists time, space, freedom and inspiration to explore their ideas in a quiet neighborhood.

Residencies April-June and September-November 2020

The Artists in an Olivegarden program provides self-contained accommodation for a self-directed residence and is open to professional writers, poets, photographers, visual artists, conceptual artists, video- film- and media-artists with relevant studies and years of practical experience.

The ideal residents are self-motivated, open, independent, tolerant, flexible and care for their environment and for others. All residents are encouraged to network, and to expose themselves to the cultural and historical background of Arles and to exchange ideas.

Accommodation v. Studio/ workspace and disciplines, work equipment and assistanceWe provide 3 Studios units. One Atelier brute for painters with private bedroom and Shower. Two studios for clean works with Mezzanine floors for work/living and shared bathroom. Huge community kitchen for residents only, separate toilets and a 4000 m2 olive garden to sit, work or chill.

Residencies April-June and September-November 2020

Fees and support
The fee for the program ranges from 440 Euro to 500 Euro per Studio. The fee is used to maintain the place and utilities. The residency is self-catering.

Additional costs: Travels, daily expenses, Visa and everything else is payed by the artist. Bicycles can be let out at a cost at the residency.

Applications 2020
Applications for 2020 following April are now accepted. Deadline Mid November 2019. Notice of Selection Mid December 2019.
