Inspired by the special atmosphere on the estate of Gamta ir kultūra in the Labanoras forest, Jurgita Rancevienė realised a long-cherished project on the theme of Lithuanian myths. The artist from Kaunas (Lithuania) uses unexpected objects and materials to place mythical creatures in the woods, which are full of allegories, fiction, the subconscious, dreams, intuitiveness, evoking emotions of people she says she will probably never meet.
During the opening ceremony of the season on 25 June 2023, the audience had the opportunity to see the artist’s large-format canvases inspired by the theme of female goddesses. And the visitors enjoyed a surprise dance performance in which they could participate by wearing masks created by Jurgita Rancevienė during her residency.
