In YUI – PORT´s Artist-in-Residence project, there are 2 programs “Invitation Program”and“Autonomous Activity Program”.
In each program and season, we will invite two pairs of artists etc. by open calls.

In “Invitation Program”, we support long-term residence of invited artists etc. who were selected by open calls in spring and autumn.
In “Invitation Program”, transportation expense, production cost and residing expenses will be paid within regulations.

In “Autonomous Activity Program”, we support short-term residential activities of emerging artists etc in summer and winter.

About residency
There are two “Workshop Gallery” for production and exhibition.
We will lend our tools necessary for the production in the facility for free.
Next to each Workshop Gallery, there is an “Artist Domitory” for residence.
There are kitchens, toilets, shower rooms, sofa beds, and other minimum items necessary for daily life.
During the program, we will lend “Workshop Gallery” and “Artist Domitory” for free.

Description of Organisation:

YUI-PORT is a public facility in Niigata City, established by renovating a junior high school. It is near the central urban area of Niigata City and located in an environment facing the Sea of Japan and the pine forest. It is possible for artists etc. residing in the facility to conduct higher creative activities while being inspired by Niigata City’s natural, historical and cultural charm. Artist etc. residing in the facility will open their creative process to the public and through workshops and research, it is possible to nurture relationships with citizens and youth and lead to diverse creative developments. Also, by artists etc. residing at the same time period interacting with each other, it leads to create new area by fusing different kind of fields.
