WARIA Artbreak AIR, an artist run activity, is located in the North of Finland offering basecamp for foreign visual artists and curators.We are providing opportunities and networks for art professionals to create a dialogue, exchange of ideas and new co-operation with northern artists.

At the moment WARIA Artbreak AIR is offering two residency programs for creators:

EXPLORING THE NORTH program aims at providing a unique curatorial experience by an intensive excursion and research period in Northern part of Finland. The participants are given the opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and create contacts for their future projects together with art professionals in the North.

Y-AIR is bilateral programme between Northern Finland and Japan which aims to support the artistic activities of emerging young artists. The program was piloted in 2017 and the selection of the participants is made once a year by jury in both countries.

Description of Organisation:

WARIA is cooperative of freelancers working in the field of creative industry, cultural events and media. Our members are artists, photographers, graphic designers, producers, educators, translators, interpreters and curators of the visual arts. WARIA produces public works of art, community art, street and media art works, short and documentary films, both as order projects and as own production.
