StudioWorks at the Tides Institute & Museum of Art (TIMA) offers residency opportunities to visual artists in order to deepen and develop their practice within a community setting. Our studios, museum and housing are located within the historic downtown and working waterfront of Eastport, Maine and overlook the U.S./Canada boundary. The residency provides a unique experience for an artist to play an active role in our creative community.

The StudioWorks program mission, supported by national awards from ARTPLACE, is to place the arts in the center of the community and foster, engage and create a vital and vibrant downtown.

Mission: Founded in 2002 in Eastport Maine, USA, the Tides Institute & Museum of Art is located on the Atlantic coast at the US/Canada border. This boundary location shapes its perspective on the region and the broader world through its initiatives and programs to foster new innovative and cross-sector works through its wide-ranging collections, education and preservation e?arts and through its partnerships and endeavors to strengthen the regionÂ??s economic prosperity, vitality, and wider connections.

How to reach by plane: The nearest airport is Bangor International Airport (BGR) (http://www.flybangor.com/).From Bangor, continue to Eastport via West??s Coastal Connection bus service or by rental car.

How to reach by train: The nearest Amtrak station is in Portland, Maine and the nearest ViaRail is in Moncton, New Brunswick. Continue to Eastport by bus and/or car.

How to reach by car: Eastport, Maine, is located on the coastal border between Maine and New Brunswick. Travel from the south via Route 9 from Bangor, Maine, or Route 1 along the coastline. Turn on Route 190 off of Route 1 and continue 7 miles to Eastport.

How to reach by boat: Eastport, Maine, is a port city and can be accessed by private boat. There are no ferry services to Eastport.
