We invite artists and researchers to develop their work at The FarmMR whilst being immersed and influenced by the unique location, the region and the experience.
In conjunction with our annual funded Artist in Residence program, our studios are available for large scale and long term projects or for short term use for artists from both Australia and overseas. The FarmMR has had an emphasis on site specific art, however, we support and encourage artists using all mediums to join us.
The FarmMR is both a small working farm and an arts hub, where there are opportunities for quiet immersion into ones work, and at times, a collaboration with others on the property and local community. The artist will be expected to be relatively self sufficient and able to travel on country roads as the farm is located approximately 7 kilometres from the town of Margaret River.
The Farm Margaret River is located in the south west of Western Australia, a region of ancient soils and flora, bounded by the Indian Ocean. The Margaret River region is an international destination for those interested in the arts, wine growing, surfing and isolated unspoilt natural beauty.
Here at The Farm Margaret River we engage with agricultural and environmental sciences, the arts and the community to explore and observe our united possibilities. We see the arts as an important conduit to our conversation and our perspective of where we stand today.
The Farm Margaret River sits upon a beautiful handful of dirt and clean water, farmed for four generations, and traditional country of the Wardandi cultural group of the Nyoongar people.
We have converted numerous hay sheds, workshops and stables into galleries, studios and residential spaces for artists and creatives, and invite artists to apply for a residency be it funded or self-managed.
The property is nestled amongst a vibrant rural community that is interested in holistic and sustainable living practices.
