The Arthouse Residency in Old Goulburn City

The Arthouse Residency is situated in Australia??s oldest inland city, Goulburn NSW. The residency is located in the old centre of Goulburn and is comprised of accommodation in a 1880??s building with 2 studios on the property and a 1920??s miner??s cottage and studio close by.

The residency accommodation and studios are within walking distance to galleries, cafes and the train station.

There is a 3 bedroom apartment on the second floor of a character building with two studios on site and a three bedroom house with large studio and etching press on the second floor all within walking distance of each other.

The residency provides an opportunity for time-out to work uninterrupted on your own project as well as the possibilities presented for ??en plein air?? drawing and painting in the urban and rural landscapes of this area.

The Residency Program consists of between 1 – 3 month residencies. Longer periods by negotiation. Residency are general 28 days in length beginning on the 1st of each month. Artists will be allocated a bedroom and an art studio at the Arthouse Apartment location. When there are three artists in residence the large studio at the Arthouse will be available. There will be up to three artists-in- residence at the Arthouse Apartment at any one time. You can book the whole apartment if you will be attending with your family, or you are collaborating with other artists.

The selection process involves completing and returning an application form which will be emailed to you upon request. The selection team consists of Helen Stephens Gallery Director, the Arthouse Residency director, Lynne Flemons and another local artist or writer depending on the artist??s art form. Wifi is available.

There are opportunities to run workshops and exhibit your work. Please indicate on the application form if you would like to do either of these.
Location: The residency is located 2 blocks from the city centre so you can walk everywhere, including to the train station.

Two of the studios are 3.5 m x 6 m and the other studio is 7 x 9m. The program is committed to the use of non-toxic materials in the larger studio thus it is not suitable for oil based paints and inks.
