The program is managed by the Arts unit of Sydney Olympic Park Authority and is part of our effort to create a unique arts and cultural dimension for the township being created at the Park. The program can accommodate a maximum of 4 participants at one time (or 5 if two successful applicants happen to be a couple), and each will have a room within a restored cottage on the site and access to well-equipped studio and workshop facilities. The Armory precinct, while only 13kms from the centre of Sydney, has a tranquil rural quality ?? it is bordered to the east by the Newington Nature Reserve, a woodland and wetland area of high ecological value and to the north by the Parramatta River. A fee of $55 per week Australian dollars is charged. The fee can be waived, at the Authority??s discretion, if the artist??s proposal will deliver definite artistic outcomes for Sydney Olympic Park, e.g. creation of a temmporary public artwork or similar.
