The Siena Art Institute offers 5 Residency Programs for professional artists and writers:

-Summer Residencies (Open application one-month residencies for June or July for artists of any discipline.)  Application deadline Sept 30 for the following year.

-Studio/Casa Residencies (Providing both a Studio and Apartment for month-long residencies throughout the year) Application deadline Sept 30 for the following year.

-Studio Residencies (Providing a Studio for month-long residencies throughout the year). Application deadline Sept 30 for the following year.

-Visiting Artist Residencies (Invitation-only one-month residencies during the academic year.)

-Project Fellowships (Invitation-only 2-or 3-month residencies during the academic year.)

The Siena Art Institute’s Residency programs allow professional artists & writers the opportunity to stay in the historic center of Siena, located in the heart of Tuscany, Italy. Residents are able to work in a private studio at the Siena Art Institute, to present their work to the public, and if they wish to hold a final event such an open studio or performance.

The Siena Art Institute’s Residents are a valuable component of the Siena Art Institute providing insight and inspiration to our program participants and the local community through the addition of their expertise, energy, and unique perspectives.

Description of Organisation:

The Siena Art Institute Onlus is a small non-profit arts organization based in the heart of Siena, Italy, one of the oldest and most beautiful university towns in Italy. We welcome artists from all disciplines who are interested in the intersection of art and civic life, and who wish to explore how the theoretical content of our individual practices can be translated into socially-meaningful projects that produce a deeper understanding of the cultures in which we find ourselves.

We offer a unique study program for Undergraduate and Post-Baccalaureate art & writing students. We also offer Intensive Summer & Winter Courses, our City Arts Programs, Summer Residencies, Studio/Casa Residencies, Studio Residencies, Project Fellowships, and our Visiting Artist Program.
