Name of Residency: SETO International Ceramics and Glass Arts Exchange Program

Seto City in Aichi prefecture is located near Nagoya city (30min. by train) and has a more than a thousand years of history of ceramic making. Today, following this tradition and history, many artists here will engage in ceramic and glass arts making. Residence Artists will find inspiration on the local ambience.

We had run “Artist-in-Residence in Seto” from 2000 to 2005 and it was intended to share our ceramic tradition with artists throughout the world.

After that we restarted “SETO International Ceramic & Glass Arts Exchange Program”in the new style in 2006. We have invited 67 ceramic and glass artists from 27 countries so far.

During this residency program, residence, studio and material budget will be given to artists, and they will share information by conducting slide lectures and workshops for citizens.

The artists will donate some of the works made in Seto City to Seto City Art Museum and they will be exhibited and become part of the permanent collection.

We have Twitter accounts of Seto City Art Museum (@setocitymuseum) and Seto Ceramics and Glass Art Center (@SCGAC). They are involved in the Program. Please follow them for the latest information.
