River House

The residency is based at our property in Provence. The house itself is 20 minutes drive north of Arles, and 15 minutes south of Avignon.

The village in which we are based in very quiet, and yet is close to two major cultural centres in Provence (Arles and Avignon). We are also close to The Camargue, Aix, Nimes, and Uzes.

We focus on residencies for photographers, writers and artists.

The house has 2,000 square metres of internal space, and all of the rooms are ensuite. Thus, each artist has room in which to work in peace and quiet.

We also have several large communal spaces in which the artists can meet and talk and cook.

We have strong links to the local artistic community in Arles and Avignon.

We value interesting and intelligent conversations about art and life. We believe that conversation is the core tool via which we all develop ideas, and ways of thinking and working.

The space at River House is ideal for such conversations.

For photographers there is the light that reflects from the Camargue, and the local photographic community here that is linked to the annual Rencontres D’Arles.

For writers, there is the space of the area, alongside the local artistic community.

for painters and sculptors there are the enduring colours and forms of Provence.
