Plattform rf association organizes several 1-4 week FREE artist summer residencies in Kyrkslätt (Kirkkonummi), near Helsingfors (Helsinki) in southern Finland.

Theme for the year 2019 is outlaw private underground library for the community and hut building. Artist chosen to the program is asked to join these projects based on his/her own skills and interests (on average 1-3 hours daily).

You can apply to the program if you work in any field of art or other creativeness and want to live in real 1940-70´s Finnish summer cottage (incl. traditional wooden heated sauna).

Objective of the residency program is to promote contemporary art in all its diverse forms and create something new for the community to share.

The small and spartan living and working space is totally free for you, including necessary electricity (not for heating, enough blankets guaranteed). Basic summer camping like hygieny possibilities (sauna with warm water and outdoor toilet) guaranteed.

There is also plenty of open air space (and whole forest and a village) to express yourself. Basic hand tools and some materials provided.

We will help you with transportations and offer you also some free study trips and artist gatherings in southern Finland. Plattform rf also makes you possible to meet people living in the community and near.

Whole residency program, duration and other activities can be tailored to fit your personal interests, just ask.

From the cottage there is a daily bus connection (bus stop 50 metres) to the greater capital city area.

You will have free access for a bike and a rowing boat too. Grocery store and village bakery in walking distance. Cloth washing possibility with a machine minimum once in a week, otherwise by hand. Campers and vans allowed.
