Residency program

We would like to invite guests from different fields of art, and team them up with the people involved in Platform and Vaasa. We expect our guests on the one hand to produce utopian ideas that will inspire for more research and, on the other hand, very practical projects which will be directly noticeable in the daily life of Vaasa.

We offer the artist a stay in Vaasa for up to 6 months. A studio space, accommodation, travel expenses (one return trip, cheapest possible covered), and a working grant of 300 euros per week are provided. We also offer a small production budget of 1000 &euro.

We currently do not have a studio but a project space in the centre of town, which can also be used as a workspace.

The artist has a contact person who is in charge of necessary arrangements, but note that this is voluntary work so if any additional assistance is needed it has to be agreed upon well in advance.

We ask the artist to realize a project, which can be presented either during the residency or at a later stage. After the project is finished the artist should submit documentation of it, as well as press release text etc. The artist is also expected to give a public talk about his/her work, which is normally done in the beginning of the stay, in order to get to know local people and other artists.

We expect the artist to be able to communicate in English, Swedish or Finnish. We require the artist to spend at least 80% of the residency duration in Vaasa.
