Picasso Pupils

Artists&rsquo POINT, Slovakia is a continuation of the art residency which has been organized in North East India from 2016 in collaboration with the Slovak Embassy in New Delhi.

The art residency programme will gather professional artists from around the World in Vrbovce, village in Slovakia surrounded by White Carpathians Protected Landscape Area, for two weeks. The art residency will provide an opportunity to experience the beauty of nature, culture and folklore of the region for the inspiration in the art work of residing artist.

The main focus of the art residency is the folklore of the region as the source of inspiration for the contemporary art practice. Programme will host at the same time 4-5 visual artists and 2-3 musicians. The Art Symposium is welcoming the application of the professional visual artists who focus in their art work on the areas suitable to the residency environment such as: traditional forms of particular region or natural and cultural specifics of the particular region etc. Musicians who compose their own songs/music and who are enthusiast towards fusion with the Slovak folk music and open for any collaboration with other musicians are the most eligible.

The artists will get an opportunity to explore the natural and cultural heritage of the region. Artists will be provided the time for individual contemplation and for execution of their art works in studio space near the accommodation. The interaction of resident artists with the local artists, musicians and resource professionals will be part of the programme in order to provide more deep insight to the history and specifics of the region. Artists will contribute their knowledge in organized workshops for local school children. There will be introduction evenings, where artists will screen their most important art works (visual artists) or perform their songs (musicians). At the end of the residency programme (Saturday 18th August 2018) there will be a final festival for the public where artists will present the created visual art works in exhibition (visual artists) and musical compositions (musicians) created during the art symposium.
