In the frame of European Capital of Culture the NGO Pilsen 2015 develops an international artist-in-residence program which is called OPEN A.i.R since openness is the motto of the whole project and since the city of Pilsen is ready to host artists from all over the world and of all artistic dispciplines and expressions. Moreover, we give local artists the possibility to stay and realize their art projects in abroad to get new experiences and inspirations.
Our artists in residence focus on researching diverse topics and creating art works of different genres. We especially welcome artists from the field of design, digital media, new media, performance, those artists who deal with innovative techniques, with DIY projects, topic of recycling and interactivity within the visual art.
OPEN A.i.R. provides artists the time to focus on their work with no pressure for the result. A possibility to arrange an exhibition is provided. It works on case-by-case basis. Depending on the time of the residency an industrial gallery space of DEPO2015 is provided for the artists to exhibit in.
OPEN A.i.R. is also very much interested in audience development and education. The residencies are a tool for uncovering the processes of creating art and the role of the artist in today’s society. Workshops led by artists are welcome as well as public presentations of their work and artistic approach.
We also work closely with Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art and allow connect our residents with local students.
