Established in 2000 in Berkeley, relocated to the historic waterfront city of Vallejo, CA in 2002. We are a ferry ride away from San Francisco, and 15 minutes from the Napa Valley.
Self-funded residencies (1 or 2 persons at a time) are available year-round for artists, writers, curators musicians etc. for 2 wks- 3 months. See www.newpacificstudio.org and Facebook New Pacific Studio -Vallejo CA.
Open to artists from all over the world. Special interest in artists with interests in local history, cultural history and theory, and environmental projects. The residency is located in a picturesque historic house (1850s) with resident director and author Kay Flavell, and separate large garden studio for painting etc.
New Pacific Studio Vallejo is a 501c (3) charitable educational institution run by a resident director (Dr Kay Flavell) and board. Regular Open Days are held. Artists and writers have ample opportunities to pursue their own work and to interact with the local community, which is currently experiencing revitalization. The wonderful cultural and environmental resources of the San Francisco Bay Area are at your fingertips.
Artists in residence have private use of two rooms plus bathroom upstairs in the historic house, plus a spacious garden studio set among fruit trees. They share the use of the rest of the house with Kay, who lives in the side house, once the old summer kitchen.
