Nature, Art & Habitat – Taleggio Valley

The Nature, Art & Habitat Residency: An ECO-Laboratory of Multidisciplinary Practice, located in the Taleggio Valley near Bergamo, Italy, is a summer program that aims to unfold and display a sensitive culture that responds to nature&rsquos needs and uses nature&rsquos insights as a source of inspiration and as measure of impacts on available resources. The ultimate goal of NAHR is to uncover intimate links between all living organisms in order to support more resilient development where humans and nature can successfully coexist.

By looking macroscopically at the Earth&rsquos ecosystems &ndash climate, geology, soil, water, air, sun &ndash and then reading microscopically the Valley&rsquos natural characteristics, including flowers, ferns, bees, pebbles, barns, villagers, shops, and more, NAHR intends to invite participants to investigate different natural components each year: their felt presence and integrated coexistence in the Taleggio Valley. We ask, and expect to challenge, participants to approach their surroundings in novel ways.

2019 Topic is “Grasses and Pastures: Imagining a Regenerative Economy of Cheese.”

The Alpine location will provide NAHR residents rich resources to root their investigation and final projects on the environmental elements, such as the woods, the river, the mountains, the pastures, and the villages – in order to give form to hidden connections with the surrounding organisms inspired by a sensitive ecological approach.

An international jury will operate the selection of the residents based on their proposals? relevance.
