LIA is celebrating its 10 year anniversary with over two hundred artists from forty nations having participated. It includes an international exhibition portfolio, as well as monthly programme. LIA fosters artists internationally by providing them with spacious studios (living and work space at once) and cultural support, as well as opportunities to exhibit internationally. The programme links young artists with the regional and international art community associated with the Spinnerei (www.Spinnerei.de) and offers a monthly programme including art critic visits.
At LIA, both open studios and the international known Spinnerei Gallery Tours (Rundgang), attracting up to 8000 visitors each event, offer the opportunity for a wider audience to access the world of art and to experience the place where art is created. In this way LIA aims to build a more personal connection between the artist and audience encouraging discussions about art in the artists actual studio. Three major Spinnerei Gallery Tours as well as various open studio exhibitions take place per year. Each artist participates at least in one group show.
In 2017 LIA celebrated its 10 year anniversary. It is based at the Spinnerei, home of over one hundred thirty artist studios, galleries and art institutions. Here the Rundgang, Gallery Tour, takes place three times a year, when over 8000 guests from Germany and abroad come to visit and discover art of all media. The programme is open to all age groups and nationalities. Artists may apply directly or are sent by The New York Academy of Art, School of Visual Arts New York City, The Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia or STAL Gallery in Sultanat Oman. Together, alongside the programmeÂ??s main partner BMW, our partners such as the Goethe-Institutes world wide made it possible for over two hundred artists from forty different countries to take part in the LIA programme since 2007. LIA is LeipzigÂ??s official art residency programme, and LeipzigÂ??s Lord Mayor, Burkhard Jung, is its patron. Applications are rolling. If you are not an associated artist with the given institutions above you may also apply yourself directly.
