La Escuelita Nicaragua

Our Residency Program provides a unique space in which to live and work amongst other native and foreign artists in the heart of a tropical Nicaraguan forest.

The purpose of our residency programme is to stimulate and bring about mutual exchange of ideas that only comes from unique experiences such as this. We aim to help artists produce new work and make new connections.

During our programmes, residents will be able to enjoy our uniquely designed ?work spaces/studios? dotted around the surrounding landscape and create in a secluded and inspirational setting.

We welcome artists from all disciplines, with particular focus on the visual arts.

We encourage and facilitate our artists to engage with the local community in some way during their stay, either through workshops, exhibitions or presentations.

Our Residency programmes will run annually from October – March, starting in 2015.

Description of Organisation:

La Escuelita Nicaragua is a unique space that brings people together to create, learn and enjoy.

La Escuelita was originally a small school for local children, set in the heart of the Nicaraguan countryside. The school itself is surrounded by hundreds of different species of plants and animals, as well as all of the peace and tranquility of a tropical paradise.

At La Escuelita we will offer a range of photography, film, dance and other workshops and events as well as an artists in residency programme for part of the year.
