Kolin Ryynänen is ideal for those seeking nature and peace. It is situated in Koli village next to a national park in North Karelia in Eastern Finland, close to Russian border. The nearest bigger town is Joensuu. Though nowadays we also have some busy months in Koli.
There is a Gastro-pub downstairs ( food, drink and sometimes Live music…) in the same building. So if you look for silence and peace it is better to apply peaceful months. In Koli quite busy times are around Christmas and the New Year, the skiing season from the end of February until Easter time and of course the summer months.
Kolin Ryynänen residence for artists is situated in an old house in the middle of small Koli village. Downstairs there is a bar / cafe and the residence is upstairs a quite big studio and an accommodation for one artist, a couple or a family ( two rooms and the kitchen ).In the yard district there is sauna and the museum and you can walk straight to beautiful forests of Koli National Park. The rent is 250 €/one person a month (for extra person it is 100 €/a month).
An application for the year 2019 can send to the address : email@example.com until August 2019.
The Koli Cultural Society is a small group of people living at Koli village, taking care of the residence ant wanting to make Koli´s fine landscapes well- known also for the foreign artists. The nature in Koli is outstandingly beautiful with lake Pielinen and forest covered hills. Koli´s hills are remnants of the ancient mountain range Karelidit. The highest point of the range of hills is Ukko-Koli, rising about 347 meters above sea level.
Koli is famous for the great inspiration it provided for the many famous Finnish writers, painters and composers during the National Romantic Period of the 19th century. Hence it is called the Finnish national landscape.
