Living in the village gives artists direct access to many of the rich and inspiring cultural events which occur throughout India- artists will see Idols being built and enjoyed in celebrations, can take part in community meals, and can enjoy dancing and other community programs.

Kalakhetra provides local accommodations, food, and instructors to participants. Our main program is 5 weeks long from February 1 to March 7th,2018 and facilitates critiques, presentations and discussions amount the participating artists. This residency is workshop based, centered around celebrating the traditional art forms of Odisha, India. Artists of all levels may  attend, including beginner.  The workshops are NOT required for artists who intend to work on their own work and want to engage less with the arts of the village. Artists seeking a residency format that involves critiques, discussions, and community engagement are asked to come during sessions when other artists are present versus during ‘name your own’ times of the year.

We are accepting applications for the 5 week group residency from now until May.

***We also offer a create your own residency ANY time of year for ANY duration**

It is possible to visit solo or in a small group during the rest of the year and to customize the instruction (if any) you wish to receive while in the village. Contact us if you would like to set up your own residency plan, separate from the main 5 weeks by emailing international.coordinator.kiar@gmail.com .
