KAAYSÁ art residency – BRAZIL

55 11 983487849

Kaaysá is an art residency located in the heart of the Atlantic Rain Forest by the Atlantic Ocean in Brazil, 160 km away from Sao Paulo, the largest city in South America.

With individual and collective programs, the space allows experiencing the forest and the sea, lectures with biologists and anthropologists on the Atlantic Rain Forest, exchanges with artists and curators from Brazil and abroad, socializing with local residents and monitoring projects by mediators.

Kaaysá welcomes creative professionals such as visual artists, photographers, curators, architects, musicians, writers, designers, researchers, philosophers, scientists, dancers, filmmakers and other actors or cultural agents.

The proposal is to interweave processes of different natures with dialogic, thematic, biographical or gestural synergies. We believe that immersion in nature can sharpen the senses, and the creative process on the move can lead residents to inhabit new places as well in their productions. Concepts such as participation, exchange, and collective life are key pieces of experience that suggest a collaboration with the local artistic scene and the formation of the public, thinking art also as a mean of circulating information and instrument of transformation.
