The International Writers?? and Artists?? Residency offers residencies of one to six weeks to artists, poets, fiction writers and creative nonfiction writers in Val David, Canada, 50 miles north of Montreal. Residents are provided with a private room and work space. The residency fee ranges from $200 Canadian (approximately $185) for one week??s lodging with a shared bathroom to $1,300 Canadian (approximately $1,200) for six weeks in a private apartment. Residents are responsible for their own food and transportation. Discounts are available for students and seniors. Residency applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Financial aid is available through the Jean Taranu Bursary, which covers half the fee for a month long residency. To apply for a bursary for an April/ May or October/ November residency, submit a 10-page work sample, a curriculum vitae, a project description, and two letters of reference by February 15 or July 1. The biannual International Festivals held at the Residence in May and October of each year provide a meeting place for artists and writers of the world to present their work, enhancing the possibilities for further contacts and cooperation on a global scale.
