Hotel Sainte Valiere

Hôtel Sainte Valière proposes self-directed residencies for artists, particularly in the domains of literature and the visual arts. The ‘hotel’ is open to artists for stays one to six weeks, during the months of May, June, July, September and October.

The purpose of our residency is to allow you to fully concentrate on your work, at the rhythm which suits you best. It is ideally suited to writing, drawing, painting, dreaming, researching and exploring. We are a not-for-profit organisation and artists fund their own stays. 2020 rates are 375 € per week. We are very happy to assist artists in obtaining grants to fund their residencies.

Hôtel Sainte Valière offers its residents large, comfortable, luminous rooms with dedicated workspaces, views and private bathrooms, and an atmosphere outside of time. One can also work in the library, drawing room, garden, or en plein air. There are bicycles and an automatic car at your disposal, and many wonderful places to visit close by. You have the option of being fully catered for during your stay. No outcomes are required, but we will happily organise events (readings /exhibitions/ concerts) to showcase your work.

We also have a musicians in residence program, offering touring musicians up to three nights free accommodation in return for one live performance at the house, between the months of April and October.

We are now accepting applications for our May, June, September and October residencies 2020. To apply send a brief description of your work and the dates you would like to attend to

The Hôtel Sainte Valière is currently seeking chefs in residence for May – June 2020. Spend some time in the Minervois region of France helping prepare the artists meals at the Hotel Sainte Valiere in return for board and lodging, or run your own small restaurant out of the hotel. Contact Eloise for expressions of interest and more information.
