Hållnäs Konstkoloni

Hållnäs konstkoloni is an artist-run venue for artistic residencies and courses in the forests on the coast of the Baltic sea. This is a family home as well as guest house for visting artists and studios suitable mainly for visual and performing arts. We welcome both small groups and individuals.

A part of our vision is to seek collaborations with other local organisations and to contribute to a dynamic rural community in Norduppland. Since 2016 we are co-producing an immersive, site-specific storytelling tour at Lövstabruk manor house, Sanning, saga, sägen.

Since 2015 we have been transforming an old barn into three beautiful studio spaces, with the help and enthusiasm of many wonderful volunteers.

Our converted barn contains three rustic un-insulated studio spaces, available mid-May-September.

The 45 sqm movement studio features high ceilings and a sprung dance floor, surfaced with a 3 mm natural rubber dance mat. The large barn doors can be opened on both sides of the space. Walls and ceiling are not insulated but there is an underfloor heating system for comfort on chilly days.

The upstairs art studio features wooden floors and lots of natural light. There is an adjacent smaller workshop with high ceiling, concrete floor and separate balcony entrance.

Downstairs, there is a fully-functional kitchen and bathroom as well as a communal area for meals, coffee and meetings. In the summer of 2019, we are installing a cast iron stove for to make this space cosier on chilly evenings. On the south side of the barn, guests can enjoy a sunny space suitable for both bbqs and outdoor projects.
