Here we imagine Glosol to be a residency dedicated to creation and choreography, mainly dance/music shows and performances related to the cultural m_Ñ_tissage and exchange, but also a place open to performers, yoga practitioners, visual artists, video artists, photographers, contemporary artists, musicians, actors, new media and for art social projects. The artistic committee cooperates with &ldquoGlosol&rdquo cultural association who&rsquos aims are the merging of different art forms and different cultures and environment. Glosol offers the opportunity to artists in residency to participate to the cultural activities of the house such as workshops, conferences, performances and exhibitions and has the committee&rsquos support, for artistic works. The dance studio is equipped for performances, exhibitions, workshops and conferences.
We welcome artists of all ages and nationalities. We have from one month up to three months programs, but we prefer a two months period of residencies. Except some special Open call for specific projects.
Artists selected might be asked to produce a work on specific projects and topics, chosen, time by time, and sometimes related to this territory. The languages we can speak fluently are English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.
As Roberta also personally practices various forms of holistic healing, in an effort to honor the organic connection between body, mind and spirit, some of the activities of Glosol are dedicated to it.
Presentation of artist&rsquos works may be arranged case by case in cooperation with the events and venues in town.
&ldquoL&rsquoanima danza!&rdquo Glosol comes from a Sigur Ros song that reminds of the glowing of the sun, soul and beauty. Glosol is a space for artists, different art forms, dance and afro contemporary dance in particular. It&rsquos a home for artistic research and cultural and artistic m_Ñ_tissage, where an art connected to nature is developed and encouraged. It&rsquos a beautiful and silent space in the historic centre of Ivrea (Torino), in front of the Teatro Giacosa, the main theatre built in 1834. You can find 2 rooms (a double and a single) , a dance studio, a common bathroom and kitchen, and, on summer, a space in the yard for painting or creating. The old town is quiet and tiny, it was the headquarters of the Olivetti computer company, which used to be an avant-guard company with an open interest for art, architecture, music, social development, environment and respect for the work. There is an open museum of Olivetti company&rsquos architectures: www.mamivrea.it and www.maam.ivrea.it. There is a beautiful museum of contemporary art Museo della Carale, www.museodellacarale.it. Ivrea is located in the Anfiteatro Morenico di Ivrea and his 5 lakes: a moraine landscape, left by the glaciers in the Quaternary, full of amazing lakes, woods, hills and at the feet of the mountains. It&rsquos really close by car or train to Aosta Valley and its castles and Alps landscape or the town of Aosta or the museum Forte di Bard and just 40 Km far from the intellectual town of Torino and 2 hours from Milano. As we are particularly interested in the connection between art and nature we can help you finding wonderful locations, inspiration for original art work. However and important, if artists feel the necessity for a culturally alive bigger town, you can easily reach Torino centre with just an hour by train (Ivrea station is 10 minutes walk from the residency). Besides that, our Historic Carnival is unique in the world, with it&rsquos famous &ldquobattle of the oranges&rdquo and can be exploited from an artistic point of view too, www.storicocarnevaleivrea.it. I am Roberta Tirassa, the Director of the residency, I am an international dancer and choreographer of afro contemporary dance my actual artistic researches are connected to cultural m_Ñ_tissage, the feminine, divinities and archetypes in everybody, flowers. And most of all a merging of dance and nature and/or in the nature. As I graduated as an environmental engineer, and have a passion for mountaineering skying and hiking, I or the house colleagues can also accompany any guest in a visit/walks in the near countryside, wonderful lakes (Anfiteatro Morenico di Ivrea) and mountains (Piemonte and Valle d&rsquoAosta), finding amazing locations for the artistic work or simply for tourism. Glosol is also the space for the Compagnia Roberta Tirassa (who also is the director of the house) of afro contemporary dance and for the cultural association Glosol. There is a partnership among Ass. Glosol and the Association Transcendance-afro contemporary dance of Gujan Mestras in France. The residency is in connection with the art gallery &ldquoKunsthaus&rdquo of Ivrea which is part of the technical committee for contemporary art, and Music Studio-Ivrea jazz Club for music, Associazione Naturalp for excursions in the nature. In Ivrea and Canavese twice a year a big international Jazz Festival, open to a fusion of different art forms is organized and can be an interesting cultural moment. Glosol may also suggest other dance schools, art galleries in town. Glosol is also a Bed and Breakfast and it&rsquos a no smoking place.
