Name of Residency: Gate 44 artist’ residencies

GATE 44′ residency programme is the expression of its appreciation for cultural and artistic diversity along with a sense of belonging to a global and integrated artistic community.

Residencies are thought as a way to exchange knowledge, an opportunity to collaborate on meaningful projects and just as importantly, a chance to have fun with like-minded people.

Located in Italy’s most vibrant and international city, our residency programme is an excellent way to experience the dynamic cultural life of a historical yet modern city whilst fully immersing in a body of work. Residencies help artists getting acquainted with new cultures while broadening and expanding their skillsets. This is production based residency where artists can work independently or seeks assistance from one of our printmakers in order to expand their repertoire and acquire new expressive tools.

We look forward to collaborating with artists who wish to work in woodcut, various etching techniques, photo-etching, silk screen atc. and we are excited see how they use these languages contribute to their research.

Residencies run from a minimum of one week to a maximum of three months. Resident artists enjoy a private apartment (bedroom, kitchen and bathroom) attached to the print shop to which they have 24-hour access. Basic print shop supplies and materials are provided. Paper, ink, and metal or wood plates are not.

Applications are on a rolling basis and open to all artists from different backgrounds and at all levels of expertise. In order to apply visit gatefortyfour.com or send us an email with examples of your work (or a website link) a brief and informal letter of purpose stating as precisely as possible how you wish to conduct and what your expectations are from the residency. The cost is of 425 € per week.
