00354 8656106
Name of Residency: Fish Factory, Creative Centre of Stöðvarjörður

The Residency is multi-disciplinary and open for most creative directions. The purpose of the program is to provide emerging and established artists, creatives, designers and progressive thinkers a port for free expression. We offer access to a range of studios and work facilities and a place to meet with other creative people in a small collaborative community.

Our Residency Artists stay together in one of two big houses with a large grown garden in the heart of our small village. Houses have 8 spacious bedrooms in total, large kitchens, bathrooms, washrooms and internet access. Bed linen and a towel are provided. Each artist has their own private bedroom and shares the kitchen and bathroom with the other artists.

We offer shared studio space (95 m2) for 6 Artists and one private studio (18.5 m2). The Centre has fully equipped wood & metal workshops, ceramic workshop, kitchen, small library, sewing workshop and a Concert hall. We recently opened a fully professional analog recording studio – Studio Silo.

We offer the Shared Studio for 85.000 ISK/Month and the Private Studio 95.000 ISK/Month, with everything above included. Residency fee must be paid at least two months before arrival. Our professional analog recording studio is located within the Fish Factory building. We offer a 10% discount off the studio price for our residents.

The regular price for an 8-hour recording session is 70.000 ISK. The price is fixed and includes the assistance of our wonderful sound engineer – Vinny.

Here are some interviews with our past Residency Artists:

Artists take care of their expenses for transport, meals, art supplies and the residency fee. The residency fee includes a private bedroom in the shared Artist house, bed linen, internet and Studio space (private or shared).

Residency Programme since: 2011
Description of Organisation:

The Creative Centre was established in 2011 when a group of people acquired the abandoned Fish Factory (2800 m2) of the village, with the aim of transforming it into a thriving place of creativity, music, and craftsmanship. This is an ongoing collaborative and community project and our actions and aims are based on sustainable principles and alternative methods.

The Centre is located in Stöðvarfjörður, a remote village in the East Fjords of Iceland, approximately 650 km from Reykjavik. The Team running the Centre is Rosa Valtingojer, Una Sigurðardottir & Vincent Wood.
