The FaveLAB residency and workshop programs aim at stimulating the dialogue between guest artists and the local community.

FaveLAb provides living and working space, access to local art networks and institutions, expertise and resources allowing the artists to work on their concepts, reasearch and study new techniques while living in Athens (city) or in Arcadia (country).

FaveLAB ensures the communication and presentation of the work developed during the residency program. Shows and presentations take place in changing locations in downtown Athens or at a selected art venues. All formats are welcome: exhibitions, interventions, art in public space, performances, presentations, talks etc.

FaveLAB communicates through the local press, digital and social media, and a mailing list of approximately 3.000 subscribers.

Residency Programme since: 2017
Description of Organisation:

FaveLAB is a residency, workshop and exhibition platform based in Athens, Greece.

Our artist residencies, workshops, lectures, networking meetings and exhibition projects address artists, designers, curators and writers who work – or wish to extend their knowledge and practice – in the field of visual art, performance, film, art in public space, contemporary jewellery art, textile art, literature.

FaveLAB focuses on the urban dynamics of Athens, a Mediterrenian metropolis in the epicenter of cultural shifts, and aims at making their social and political significance visible to the international art community – and a broader public.

Experimental art practices, alternative presentation formats, integrative art and design approaches are welcome. FaveLAB offers an individual introduction into the life, politics and – ancient and contemporary – culture in Greece.

FaveLAB promotes the dialogue between the Greek and international art scene and supports a vital exchange between the public, cultural agents, designers and urbanists.

FaveLAB offers accommodation, exhibition opportunities and personal expertise, facilitating the access to the rich cultural tradition of the place and assisting the artists to develop ideas and concepts, realize and present them in Athens or Arcadia.

FaveLAB has cooperated in the past with Umweltbundesamt (Federal Agency for the Environment) Dessau/Berlin, Bauhaus Foundation Dessau, Goethe Institut Athen, Altes Museum Berlin, Thikwa Werkstatt fuer Theater und Kunst Berlin, Munich Jewellery Week, Sieraad Jewellery Art Fair Amsterdam, Grassi Museum Leipzig, General Consulate of Greece in Hamburg and Munich, Victoria Square Project Athens, 3Quarters Design, P-Artworks Athens etc.
