Dorland Mountain Arts Colony offers residencies of up to 12 weeks year-round to artists, musicians, composers, poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers in the secluded hills overlooking the Temecula Valley wine country of Southern California.
The purpose of the Dorland Residency Program is to deepen the quality of the creative process, enabling its residents to explore their own creative resources without distraction.
Residents are provided with lodging in one of five private cottages, each of which has a kitchen, sleeping area, workspace, bath, and a covered porch that overlooks the mountains. Two cottages have baby-grand pianos (one a Steinway & one a Kimball.)
Residents have the use of our Community Arts Studio building which has a gallery, studio space, and library. An outdoor Art Pavilion is also available for use.
Dorland has its own hiking trails that meander through part of the 300 acres of natural preserve. Native plants and wildlife and beautiful views can be seen throughout the property.
Emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply. Applications are processed on a rolling basis.
