Chulitna Lodge is 180 miles from the nearest road, with fly-in access only.

A historical landmark on the shores of Lake Clark National Park, and home of Dick Proeneke and his famous black and white film ?Alone in the Wilderness?.

Our Mission: to share a love for responsible exploration of our worlds most remote locations, with the intent of passing forward the value of maintaining such places wild, and to personally reap the benefits of life a world apart.

Chulitna Lodge Artist-In-Residence Program seeks to provide the time, space, clarity, and facilities for all forms of creative professionals to make and meditate.

We encourage the gamut, from seasoned professionals to entheusiastic hobbyists, to apply for our various programs.

Our Facilities are sufficient for many processes.

There is a complete wood-shop representing most every tool one would need.

Some Printmaking and Digital Photography facilities.

Welding and cutting tools. (Metal can be flown in, or repurposed from appliances/equipment collected over Chulitna’s 80+ years.)

Light is ample, as is space for painters.

Writers and researchers will find our library a great place to find everything from obscure local native legends, to biology, anatomy or taxa.

Timeframe:

Early summer is a fantastic beauty full of hope and spring blossoms. Mid-Summer has great intensity with the midnight sun. Late summer to fall brings salmon, the changing of the leaves, and Aurora Borealis.

    How to reach by plane: From Anchorage Alaska, it is a beautiful flight in a small commuter plane through Lake Clark Pass. The flight passes incredible scenery, many waterfalls, two volcanoes, and dozens of glaciers.The plane lands on a dirt runway on Lake Clark, and then one of Chulitna Lodge?s boats drives you across the massive lake, that measures about 6 times the size of Manhattan, to pull onto Chulitna?s beach.
