Centro de Arte Curaumilla

Curaumilla Art Center is a space dedicated to learning, creation, exploration and exchange of different artistic languages. Its location in a natural environment on the edge of the Pacific Ocean promotes personal immersion and collective care experiences where creativity emerges, even though it is only 20 kms from the city of Valpara??so, a place full of history, magic and culture activities.

So far, it has been dedicated to “Ceramic Safaris”, two week long ceramic workshops during summer, but recently it has implemented a residency program open all year.

The Center has already received some resident artists sporadically, but it is expected that they increase in number and integrate simultaneously to open opportunities to dialogue, exchange, complementarity and co-creation processes.

Residency Programme since: 2013
Description of Organisation:

Curaumilla Art Center was established after the stay of its Director, ceramist Marilu Rosenthal, at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in USA, where she was intern, professor and resident artist there for six years. On her return to Chile, along to her husband Andres Honorato, they replicated the experience at Curaumilla with the support of the Anderson Ranch.

Currently, it focuses on the experience and knowledge transfer through residencies, workshops and laboratories.

Curaumilla Foundation was created to support the operation of the Center and strengthen its associative network, in order to generate more and better visibility of the work of its artists and extend the benefits of artistic experience beyond Curaumilla.
