Since its inauguration in 2004, neimënster has welcomed nearly 12.000 artists in its accommodation and creation spaces. Each year about 800 artists are able to benefit from the accommodations that have been put to their use for free or at a very affordable rate. In order to support the artists in their creations, neimënster has 561 m² at its disposal, divided into accommodations and studios, to which are added exposition and performance spaces.

Because of the multidisciplinary nature of neimënster, we offer residencies in a wide range of disciplines: visual arts, dance, composition, literature, performing arts and music. New art forms shall not be excluded from the possibility of a residency. The underlying idea is the central notion of dialogue between art forms and cultures. The main criteria for the selection of artists are the originality of the project as well as its innovative and socially engaged character.

According to the artistic discipline and the form of the residency, the latter will take place on a time scale from one week up to six months. The residency includes both an individual accommodation, working spaces, rehearsal rooms for performers as well as logistical and technical support for the artist. The artistic projects realised during the residencies will figure as exhibitions or performances in our program. During the residency, we also guarantee encounters in different contexts between the artist and the public as well as professionals, in order to allow them to peek into the creative process of the artist. By this means, the artist gets the possibility to enter into a new network, reaching beyond the realms of neimënster.
