The C3’s Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Program provides studio space and short to long-term accommodation for regional, national and international artists, writers and cultural researchers.

Our AiR programs: are open to emerging and established visual artists in any mediums. Writers, curators, cultural researchers, musicians and performing artists are also welcome and encouraged to apply. We do not have the capacity to cater to large groups.

Objectives: to provide a program and facilities that allow artists to experiment, develop new ideas and interact with fellow artists and the community through talks, workshops and exhibitions.

Our AiR programs are intended to promote professional development for the artist while giving the local community access to a diverse range of arts practices, theories and experiences.

Our AIR mandate is to collaborate with community groups in the North Okanagan to create new ideas and processes through art and bring greater awareness to shared social and environmental issues.

C3 partners with the Arts Council of the North Okanagan for our 3-month funded CeramAIR ceramics program, and Kalamalka Press & Okanagan College for our funded 1-month KP@C3 Writers in Residence program.

C3 also takes year-round applications to our Self-Directed AiR program, a flexible and affordable residency program (you can design your residency for a timeframe anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months.)

Residency Programme since: 2011
Description of Organisation:

The Caetani Cultural Centre (C3) operates out of the historic Sveva Caetani Heritage House,  walking distance to small-town Vernon’s downtown, in the Okanagan Valley, famous for hot summers, snowy winters, lakes and award-winning wineries in British Columbia, Canada.

C3 offers 4 kinds of Artist-in-Residence programs and schedules events throughout the year for the public to access the Caetani gardens, engage with member artists and enjoy the facilities.

Vernon is located between three lakes, Kalamalka Lake, Okanagan Lake and Swan Lake, 25 minutes from world class cross country and downhill skiing, mountain biking, and award winning wineries.

House: the Caetani Heritage House was built in 1896, the former home of Sveva Ersilia Caetani, an artist, teacher and mentor in the community. There are currently 4 Artist-in-Residence residencies available.

Studios: we have seven studio/workspaces onsite that are in use on a year-round basis by local artists and artists participating our Artist-in-Residence programs.

Gardens: we have 1.5 acres of gardens at C3 which provide a peaceful and inspiring setting for artists to create and share their work with the community. These gardens are maintained with the assistance of the City of Vernon, the Regional District of the North Okanagan and many volunteers.
