Within the framework of Budapest Art Factory`s International Artist Residency Program, we welcome visual artists from around the world to develop their artistic practice in the culturally vibrant capital of Hungary.

Professional artists may apply for the residency individually or as artist duos.

The residency program welcomes applications for the months of June/July/August 2020. It is possible to select between one, two or three of the proposed months, depending on the desire and availability of the artist.

In order to be considered for the program, please, send us an e-mail to budapestartfactory@gmail.com with the link of your website or your professional biography along with 8-10 images.

We carefully overview each application. Selection is done by professional criteria and the results will be communicated by our team in due course.

The cost for taking part in the residency is 1800 Euros/month and an artwork, which is to be donated to the program at the end of the stay.

The program fee includes:

– A separate studio space of 30-40 m2 with great natural light and basic equipment catering for the creative project’s requirements

– Accommodation in a beautifully renovated downtown apartment, conveniently located near public transport

– PR activities related to the residency program and each artist´s professional practice

Optionally, BAF organizes an end of the residency solo exhibition for an additional 1200 Euros, which covers costs related to PR activities, photo documentation, installation and catering services related to the opening.

The exhibition space is 50 m2. The solo exhibition is widely promoted through private and social media channels as well as the press. The opening reception attracts about 100-120 visitors.

During his/her sojourn, the artist resident´s works gain visibility through special studio visits and all art events hosted by BAF. At each event, the studios are open for visitors. In addition, BAF offers a wide range of services to ensure that the guest artist makes the very most out of his/her stay in Hungary – with special focus on providing opportunities to connect with the local art scene.

As part of our International Guest Artist Program we invite 3-5 internationally acclaimed visual artists yearly. The Guest Artist Program is by invitation only and it runs simultaneously with the International Artist Residency Program.
