Artranta Residence in northern Central Finland is Finland?s first residence aimed for architects and designers.
It is open to designers from all over the world. The residence offers its guests an inspiring environment close to nature, where e.g. a variety of natural materials can be tried in accordance with sustainable development ideology. Materials can be, for example, wood and its by-products, plants, clay, textiles, leather, bone, and other such natural materials. We also offer opportunities for cooperation with companies.
The residence is temporarily operating in cooperation with Karstula Evangelical Institute. During 2017, we should have both work and accommodation premises available in Karstula centre, in Kruukkila?s idyllic farm house. In the light of gained experience and feedback, we shall develop the actual residence centre. The vision is to construct a log-built centre in the forest landscape of Karstula, at the shore of Lake P_Ñ__Ñ_j_Ñ_rvi. Plans are to arrange an architectural competition for the centre&rsquos main building.
We offer residence periods of 1-3 months with accommodation, dining possibilities and workspace. The residence guests have access to the wood and metal machinery of Development Centre Ropotti, as well as the opportunity for 3D printing.
