Name of Residency: Antares residency

The aim of our residency program is to provide good working facilities in a homely atmosphere in middle of finnish countryside. Antares possesses good communication with the local community and artists associations in nearby towns Kouvola, Kotka, Hamina, Lahti and Lappeenranta.

The artist residency includes four bedrooms (13 m² each), a common kitchen and a living room (32 m²), a big bathroom with a washer and a sauna, two toilets. The artist in residence is also offered space to meet and work, according his/her needs.

In Antares there are good working facilities for sculptors with welding and casting equipment. We have also a printmaking studio with lithography and intaglio. Monumental workshop has a crane, welding and casting tools. Private or shared studios are available for painters. Antares Art Centre is a constantly developing center for art.

Description of Organisation:

Cultural Union of Antares (since 2010) is an association of 27 professional artists of different disciplines. It manages Art Center Antares ( in Sippola, Southern Finland. Executive board consists of three artist and is chaired by sculptor Tiiu Anttinen. Tiiu and her husband lives in site and helps visiting artists with all the practicalities. Seven artists have their private studios in Antares. Annually 1-2 persons are employed in gallery keeping and studio maintaining.
