A L T O is now inviting self-directed artists who wish to nurture their work surrounded by abundant raw nature, jungle & fauna to submit applications for vacancies at the residency.
The opportunity exists for artists from all around the globe within all practices to take a residency at A L T O. This can be privately-funded, funded by a third party interested in promoting an individuals work, or by grants, scholarships etc.
As a resident artist you will have the possibility of working within one of our two spaces, in the jungle of Alto Paraiso. Please have a look in the web.
Mariri Jungle Lodge has 40 hectares of lush jungle by the most amazing cliffs. The residency can take place for periods of 2 weeks to 3 months.
Artists will have full use of a studio when available and the use of the shared circular studio. There are a series of extra comforts for good health and living including a Finnish sauna, large rock mineral water pool fed by a beautiful John Wilkes flowform. There are unique sleeping rooms at Mariri Jungle Lodge to choose from:
A 10m Tower Room, the Bamboo Chalet, Casa Luna Chalet, the Kura Kura Tree House and Araras Tree House, the more traditional Orange and Library Rooms as well pretty wood cabanas.
Resident artists will be featured on the A L T O web page, which will include biographical information and images of work produced during the residency.
We can also host group residencies for groups belonging to an institution, or art group/collective.
A L T O Residency is held at Mariri Jungle Lodge a creative home and permacultural project space. As an add-on to the residency there is also the possibility to cooperate with local sustainability by working in the orchards, organic veg patches, healthy nutrition and bio-construction providing further connection to the land and its residents.
ALTO: Art + Living. Is an arts residency space based at Mariri Jungle Lodge in the heart of Brazils town of Alto Paraiso, one of the most exciting and significant eco-spiritual lands worldwide, located in the province of Goias, 2.30h drive from Brasilia, Brazil.
The guiding principle behind the activities of the organisation is to facilitate, through production and collaboration, art and artists whose work can manifest a discourse within the raw environment and through living sustainably within permaculturist principles.
