Description of Organisation:

Bunnell Street Arts Center has been recognized for several years by our peer organizations as one of the best venues for innovative contemporary art in the state of Alaska. This non-profit art center located in Homer, Alaska offers challenging and non-traditional art to the public. Years ago, local homesteaders gathered around the coal stove in what was then a spacious hardware store, telling stories. With equal measure of nostalgia for our homesteading roots and creative imagination, locals and visitors of all ages seek artistic forums in this historic center. Located in Homer’s largest historic building, Bunnell Street Arts Center is Homer’s first and Alaska’s longest-lived art center. Our mission is to nurture and present exceptional innovative art in all media for diverse audiences. Established in 1991, Bunnell sparks creative exchange for people of all ages through innovative art programs of the highest caliber. Bunnell Street Arts Center presents exhibits, artist in residence, artist in schools, performances, concerts and salons of all kinds, readings, screenings, and lectures, opportunities for emerging artists, and community engagement activities to promote stewardship, pride and economic opportunity through the arts.
