Aiming to intervene at pivotal moments in artists’ careers, Acme’s programme of artist support is designed to have transformational impact. Over 700 artists have benefitted from residencies and awards at Acme since its foundation in 1987.
Our early career programme provides artists in their first five years of practice with a variety of support structures, including financial subsidy, rent relief, professional development, mentoring, presentation and exhibition opportunities.
Our artist centered mid career support can include work/live accommodation, financial bursaries, mentoring, professional development, all within the support of an artist peer community.
We are currently developing opportunities to support late career artists.
Opportunities for artists range from fully funded residencies and awards with partner organisations, focusing on supporting artists from particular regions or at particular points in their careers, to open call artist proposition residencies.
Acme was founded by artists, for artists, in 1972. We support the development and production of art by reducing the practical challenges that artists face, increasing their ability to take creative risks.
We work collaboratively with partners to deliver affordable and secure artist studio provision, and develop pioneering residencies and awards programmes that support artists at all stages of their careers.
Acme is the UK’s leading provider of new-build artists’ studios in mixed-use residential schemes, working in partnership with commercial developers and housing associations.
We provide studio space for fine artists who are unable to afford to rent work space on the open market. We currently support over 700 individual artists across Greater London.
