The Rijksakademie’s artist residency has a unique ecology, which is highly international, multi-disciplinary, experimental and critically engaged. Artists are supported with a studio, a stipend, by a wide range of artistic and technical advisors, including artists, curators and thinkers, and have access to well-equipped workshops, a library and discursive engagement. This allows them to challenge themselves, experiment and deepen their practice. We have a commitment to diversity, to working with a global perspective and with sensitivity to the local. There is no fixed programme, dominant conception of style or ideology. The Rijksakademie offers time, people and opportunities.
The Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam focuses on developing talent in the fine arts. The institution selects and facilitates top talent and offers selected artists a platform for further development of their work. Presentation of the work and connections to an international network form a part of the two-year residency program. For many alumni the residency has led to their international breakthrough.
