Res Artis is proud to announce the appointment of Lea O’Loughlin as the new President of the Board.
Lea O’Loughlin is the Head of Residencies and Awards at Acme Studios in London, UK. She has served as a Res Artis board member since 2014, as Secretary from 2015 to 2016 and Vice-President since September 2016.
With its headquarters in Amsterdam and two satellite offices in Melbourne and Tehran, the UK Presidency indicates our core value of achieving greater visibility and relevance to our members all over the globe. It also signals a renewed dialogue about the UK’s status as a significant global cultural contributor, post-Brexit.
Lea says on her new role “My desire to lead the Res Artis Board stems from a genuine belief in the work that we do and the potential for Res Artis to create positive impact; growing its influence, membership and network to collectively strengthen the residencies sector.
Every artist residency centre should have the opportunity to connect with colleagues and to support their organisational sustainability regardless of their size, or challenges of their cultural or geographical context. I have a history of working with organisations in the artists’ studios and residencies sectors, and with international membership bodies to empower artists and amplify the benefit of their contribution to society.
Bringing the Presidency of this international professional cultural network to the UK at this particular moment in time, is incredibly important. I look forward to working with UK, European and international colleagues to develop meaningful dialogue and increase cultural connectivity through artistic mobility and exchange.”
