Mapping Latin America

We have received funding to develop a comprehensive listing of residencies in Latin America. At our meeting last month in Lima, we gathered some information from members of residencias_en_red, the Latin American network that hosted us. We understand that there are many residencies in Latin America that are neither members of residencias_en_red nor Res Artis.

About residencias_en_red[iberoamerica]

residencias_en_red[iberoamerica] is a Latin American platform for contemporary art and cultural spaces that support research, production and exhibition, the main link between the network members their art residency programs. The network was created through a political desire of Latin American integration and an affective desire for collaboration and collective work among its members in order to get representation and interlocution in the micro and macro international cultural political sphere.

This network brings together different formats of art residencies formats and enhances its diversity. In parallel to the artistic project focus, the network works with other issues important to the professional development of the members. It considers topics such as archiving, digital communication, management, networking, publishing, support for emerging residency pro- grammes, sustainability, training and visibility.

The Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development, AECID has provided all the logistic and financial support to the network through its own network of Cultural Centers  to enable the realization of exchange programs, meetings and coordination between  2009 and 2011
